Radiation therapy can be
used in different ways

Radiation therapy may be used on its own or as part of a broader treatment plan that can include surgery, medical oncology, or other therapies. Every treatment plan is individualized based on the type of cancer, its location, its stage, and your goals of care. Depending on your diagnosis, radiation may be recommended:

  • As a primary treatment

  • Before or after surgery

  • Along with chemotherapy or systemic therapy

  • To lower the risk of recurrence

  • To relieve pain, bleeding, pressure, or other symptoms caused by cancer
